FISHING IN THE BRITISH VIRGIN
ISLANDS
SPEAR FISHING is not permitted in
the BVI. The use of SCUBA equipment to capture or remove any
marine animal or coral is against the law. Fishing within the
boundaries of any marine park is strictly forbidden.
It
is a legal requirement that anyone putting a line
in the BVI
waters must have a fishing license.
EACH MEMBER FISHING MUST
HAVE A LICENSE, except person under 18 years of age. Fines
range to 6 figures, confiscation of fishing equipment and the
boat.
The license will be valid for
1 month and cost $45.
A photocopy of a valid photo
ID must accompany the application.
Last Stop Sports can process
the application for you before your arrival for a $10 fee, or
you can obtain it directly from the Government Administration
building in Road Town.
The government office closes early on Friday
afternoons and doesn’t reopen until Monday morning
(closed weekend and public holidays).
If you want Last Stop Sports
to process it for you, please fill up those forms:
